  • Stray cow claims biker’s life

    Ujjain : A bike rider collided with a stray cow near Vijayganj Mandi at Maksi Road on Friday night and died during treatment. According to details available Bhagwansingh, son of Gulabsingh Gurjar, a resident of village Lasudiyabaichar under Tarana police station was returning from Dewas on his motorcycle when the accident occurred. His bike rammed a cow resting on the road, as a result he received severe injuries and died during treatment.

  • Pal sets Sept 30 for completing ongoing works

    Ujjain : Municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal on Saturday convened a meeting of officials to take stock of ongoing development works within the limits of Ujjain Municipal Corporation. During the meeting, Pal instructed the officials to get all the ongoing work completed by September 30. The commissioner also asked them not to interrupt the ongoing work without her knowledge.

    Municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal terminated 10 sanitation workers for dereliction of duty on Friday and suspended two mates Lalu Gosar and Dharma Sangat. She also verified attendance of sanitation workers. The commissioner later visited swimming pool area, Bharatpuri, Treasure bazaar, C-21 Mall, Nagziri and Triveni Vihar areas.
