The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority ( MMRDA) plans to construct an elevated road that will connect the Bandra- Worli Sealink on the western side with the proposed TransHarbour Link on the northeastern fringe of the city to ensure smooth traffic.
The authority has drawn up a three- way traffic dispersal plan at the Worli side of the Sealink, which includesconnecting the Sewri- Nhava Sealink with the Bandra- Worli Sealink through a four- km elevated road.
" The road, which will connect the east to the west will enable quick access to the TransHarbour Link from the western suburbs," MMRDA commissioner Rahul Asthana told reporters here Wednesday.
The project cost is estimated at Rs 450 crore. " We are currently preparing a detailed project report and will soon appoint consultants for carrying out the tendering process. We expect to float tenders by November and in 2013 the work will commence," he said.
