The mayoral post of Kalyan- Dombivali ( KDMC) will now be reserved for OBC women category and Thane and New Mumbai will be reserved for any corporator from OBC category.

The Bhiwandi- Nizampur and Dhule will have a Mayor from open category of women. Mayoral posts of Mira- Bhayander and Nashik will be for open category.

State government on Wednesday drew a lottery for women reservation in the presence of MOS for Urban Development Bhaskar Jadhav. The government had earlier drawn a lottery for women reservation on June 2010. But as the government decided to allot 50 per cent reservation to women, it was mandatory to reserve three mayoral posts for women. The mayoral post of Thane, New Mumbai and Kalyan Dombivali have been reserved for OBC category. The state government on Wednesday had a lottery for these 3 corporations to reserve one mayors post out of them for women. As KDMC was reserved earlier for OBCs, it got reserved for OBC women in particular, the male contenders for the post were thrown out of race. Dhule, Nashik, Nanded- Waghala, Mira- Bhayander and Bhivandi- Nizampur were put for lottery to reserve Mayors post to open category.
