Cairo Egypt awaited with batedbreath the fate of their former ruler, with the ousted president Hosni Mubaraks trial having been completed and the presiding judge expected to set a date for the verdict, PTI reports.
The six- month- old trial entered its final day on Wednesday with judge Ahmed Refaat saying he had heard both the prosecution and defence. Mubarak, 83, is facing charges of corruption and killing of protesters during the 18- day uprising that overthrew him a year ago and if convicted may be sent to the gallows.
Besides Mubarak, the trial could see his interior minister Habib al- Adly and six other security chiefs also face death penalty. In the dock are also his two sons, Alaa and Gamal.
