State paying ''14cr daily as interest

The state owes a debt of Rs 67,197 crore as on March 31, 2011, which is expected to rise to Rs 76,019 crore by 2012, making each person in state debtor for of Rs 9256.

This information was given by finance minister Raghavji while answering a written question raised in the House. According to Raghavji, the state government, in 2010- 11, had paid Rs 5048 crore as interest, which is Rs 13.83 crore from per day point of view. Raghavji said in 2002- 03, during the regime of Cong government in state, Rs 2502 crore annually were paid as interest of the debt, resulting in a big rise in the quantum of debt on state in the last 8 yrs and the interest had doubled.
