The wife of one of the fishermen who were killed by the Italian guards has moved the Kerala High Court demanding that the ship should not be allowed to leave without paying Rs one crore in compensation.
Reacting to the court decision on Wednesday, she said that they would file a plea seeking an enhancement of the low bank guarantee amount fixed by the court.
Counsel for the Italian vessel owner argued that the compensation of Rs. 1 crore sought by the victims family was unheard of and too high.
A Kerala court has issued a warrant to search the Italian ship to seize the gun that killed the Indians.
Italian authorities are, in turn, probing why its merchant ship ignored the Italian Navys objections and docked in Kerala leading to the arrest of the Marines.

Meanwhile, according to sources, Italy has demanded a joint probe into the killing of the fishermen, reiterating that the incident occurred in international waters. India and Italy on Wednesday failed to resolve their diplomatic row, with Rome regretting the deaths but insisting they took place in international waters. New Delhi, however, made it clear that the two arrested Italian Marines will face Indian law. After meeting Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur, Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Staffan de Mistura voiced " terrible sadness" over the February 15 killing of the fishermen off Kerala. The meeting came three days after talks between Indian and Italian officials failed to break the impasse.
Kaur said after the talks that there was no agreement between the two sides. "( We) will certainly go by our law. As far as law is ( concerned), they have their interpretation and we have ( ours)." Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi is to visit India for further talks.
