Indian Cycling Expedition to kick off today

œ Ujjain will be among four places of the country from where national level 'Indian Cycling Expedition'will be launched simultaneously on Sunday. About 1500 participants including women, girls, kids and elders of 14 states will travel to around 2500 km distance to accomplish this expedition which is basically aimed at 'total fitness'. Giving more details during a press conference at Sardarpura located office of Seva Bharati, here on Saturday, host Krida Bharati national treasurer Kamlakar Ksheersagar ( Mumbai) said, after successfully undertaking cycling expedition in entire Maharashtra during last 19 years, the organization under the leadership of former cricket star and Lok Sabha member Chetan Chauhan ( Delhi) decided to take expedition to national level this year. These expeditions will be launched simultaneously on Sunday at 9 am from Ujjain, Delhi, Jagannathpuri and Bangalore and conclude at different places after traveling through average 2500 km distance.

By January 2, all these rallies will come to an end.

According to Ksheersagar, about 100 participants including 10 women of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra will join the cycling expedition from Ujjain. They will bring cycles on their own which costs Rs 2000 to 70, 000. They will travel 100 to 125 km per day. The organization will provide all the participants free insurance cover, lodging and boarding, medication, security etc. He informed

informed that the participants belongs to common families, all age groups and resides at far distances. 4 guards will escort them so that they can move safely from 4 and six lane roads and ups and downs. Their luggage will be carried through vehicles.

There will be no race occurred and it will be purely an expedition, he clarified.

Noted physician and expedition co- convener Dr Ganesh Ketkar ( Mumbai) informed that cycling is the best exercise as compared to swimming, brisk walking, yoga etc. He informed that cramps are generally surfaced during such expeditions, but he use to treat it without any medicine and that condition the cyclists were being advised to control their diet and do some physical exercises.

According to Krida Bharati State secretary and former physical teacher of Government Science College, Purushottam Parmar, a programme has been organised on Sunday at 8 am at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Mahakalpuram to mark the launching of expedition.

Chetan Kashyap and Ashok Sohoney will be guests of the programme.
