We should take BJP, Congress to task for non-performance, says Ram Jethmalani

Mumbai: The Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre and the previous Congress Government should be taken to task by the people for alleged “non-performance”, said 94-year-old legal luminary Ram Jethmalani at a function in the city on Wednesday night.

“I am very much disappointed by the current BJP-led government as well as the previous Congress regime as they have not delivered according to the expectations of the people.” Jethmalani, former law minister, said he had obtained a law degree from the Bombay University at a tender age of 16 and was practising as a lawyer since then. “Having attained 94 years of age I recently quit from the Supreme Court bar and will not practice further.

He was speaking at a function organised by the Sindhi community at Otters Club in Bandra here to felicitate him on the occasion of his 94th birthday. Prominent among them were Bollywood producer Ramesh Taurani, eminent lawyer and Jethmalani’s son Mahesh Jethmalani, well known author Dr Ram Jawhrani, 87-year-old Industrialist Dr Chander Thakur, former Mayor of Ulhasnagar Hardas Makhija, actor Prem Chopra, film actor Tabassum, retired High Court Judge Abhay Thipsay and  politician from Gujarat Haresh Malani.


A book written by Dr Chander Thakur and titled “Sindhi Moseeqee Ain Shah Latif” on the life and works of sufi Sindhi saint Shah Abdul Latif  was released on the occasion at the hands of Ram Jethmalani.
