Court is told, more than 100 children were deported to several countries
This is not the first time when in an International Human Trafficking,victims from Punjab have come in limelight, in the year 2003, the Punjabi Pop singer Daler Mehndi’s name had cropped up for running an illegal immigration of International Human trafficking . Daler and his brother Shamsher Singh, had been accused of illegally sending people abroad disguised as members of his troupe by charging hefty money. Mehndi brothers were allegated for “dropping off ” 10 persons illegally during their troupes visit in 1998 and 1999 to the US. The allegations were that the 10 persons were shown as group members of troupes.
MUMBAI : In a shocking case of child trafficking, the crime branch of Mumbai police have busted a racket. They produced two accused Sunil Jivatram Nandani (53) and Narsiya Joseph Munjali (46) before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mumbai on Saturday. The duo accused were given police custody till May 3. The investigators claim that the arrested Nandani and Munjali acted as carrier agents in the racket.
On April 20, the Anti-Robbery and Dacoity Cell of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch busted an international human trafficking racket by arresting three Aarif Shafi Farukhi (38), Rajesh Balaram Pawar ( 47) and Fatima Farid Ahmed (48) and rescued the four children from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. Another accused Aslam Rafique Panchal(52) was also arrested later.
These four girls rescued by the crime branch hail from Punjab.
The police claims that Fatima Farid Ahmed apparently lured the families of the victims. “The rescued girls families are from weak economical background,the arrested accused paid “some money” to their families residing in Punjab.
“All the arrested six accused in International Human traffiking were remanded to police custody till May 3, on Saturday,” said a crime branch official.
During the interrogation they revealed about involvement of other three accused Aslam,Sunil and Narsiya. Later,the investigators kept their phone calls on tracking however phones were switched off.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that Nandvani had recently sent eight children to Paris on French visas using the modus operandi of changing their identities and religion. It also revealed that there were many agents in Punjab who are trafficking the children to Mumbai. Fatima posed as mother and Aarif as father of the four children when they were arrested.
The police informed the court that they have seized several crucial documents from the arrested accused Fatima, Aslam and Aarif and suspect that about 100s of children were sent to various countries on forged and fabricated document.
The prosecution claimed that Fatima posed as mother of the children and on basis acquired visas for Paris and other countries.
The investigators told the court that the arrested accused Rajesh Pawar and Fatima Farid Ahmed have already several cases registered against in Human Trafficking.
The six accused are arrested under section for trafficking of persons [370(5)], forgery (465), forgery of document (467), Forgery for purpose of cheating (468), using a forged document as genuine (471), cheating by personation (419), cheating (420), Personating a public servant (170) and conspiracy 120 (b) .
