Thane: Good news for Thane bus commuters. The Thane Municipal Transport will be introducing the e-ticket service. The project was sanctioned in the Thane Municipal transport committee meeting on Wednesday.
Due to some technical errors and uninterested tenderer, the project remained on paper since last four years. Now the new fleet of 230 buses will be introduced under the JNNURM and hence e-ticket service will be reintroduced. The decision was finalised in transportation committee meeting held on Wednesday. The project will be on BOT basis and estimated budget for the project for an year is Rs 2.50 lakh.
Thane municipal transport had decided to start the new way of digital ticketing, the e-tickets, in 2011. The tenders were floated thrice for the same but there was no response and then the TMT committee decided to start the project on experiment basis. The project faced the technical errors and hence remained shut with the new affirmations the project will take a new leap and be given to the contractor for the next seven years.
How e-ticket will work
As many as 1200 e-ticket machines will be available.
How many tickets were issued, the location of bus and the exact information about the cash will be available on just one click and hence, there will be no chance remain for corruption, said Sachin Shinde, member, TMT committee.
