Jalna (Mah): Senior Maharashtra BJP leader Vinod Tawde today hit out at Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar for allegedly neglecting farmers in Maharashtra whose crops were destroyed by the unseasonal rain and hailstorms.
Tawde visited the affected areas here today.
He claimed the NCP chief toured the areas of the state not to provide succour to farmers, but for the election campaign.
Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan too did not offer any relief following his visits, he alleged.
“Four days have passed after his (Chavan’s) visit, but no help for farmers is forthcoming,” he said.
BJP would compel the government to provide immediate relief to farmers, he said.
Tawde also expressed confidence that the Shiv Sena-BJP- led alliance of opposition parties would win 35 out of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra.
