Nashik: The Shiv Sena and Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatna (SSS) together demanded waiver of farmers’ loans and warned the government of severe repercussions during a farmers’ convention in Nashik on Friday. Sena president Uddhav Thackeray and SSS president MP Raju Shetty along with others addressed the farmers.
Uddgav Thackeray demanded either Rs 15 lakh be deposited in the farmers’ accounts or their loans be waived off. “We don’t want power, we can give support from outside and will continue our support if the farmers’ loans are waived. Maharashtra has the power to provide for other states and yet the farmers are forced to commit suicide?” he asked.
