Mumbai: Following a strong protest by RTI activists, Maharashtra Governor C V Rao on Thursday ordered the administration to withdraw a notification excluding the Anti-Corruption Bureau from the purview of the Right to Information Act.

The controversial notification had been issued by the erstwhile Prithviraj Chavan-led government on September 6. The Governor took the decision to scrap the notification after several RTI activists protested against the same, and newspaper articles pointed out that the notification had violated the RTI Act, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said. The Governor consult-ed legal experts before taking the decision, the spokesperson added.
