Pune: Rohini Salian to prosecute in Mohsin Sheikh murder case


Pune: Rohini Salian, public prosecutor, on Monday gave her consent to fight the Mohsin Sheikh murder case as Special Public Prosecutor. Mohsin Sheikh was brutally killed by members of Hindu Rashtra Sena in June 2014.

Ujjwal Nikam who was Special Public Prosecutor for the case last month withdrew from the case saying busy schedule. Despite request by Sadiq Sheikh, Ujjwal Nikam refused to resume the case.

Later Sadique Sheikh, father of Mohsin Sheikh, requested Rohini Salian to join the case as SPP. He also sent letters and requests to Devendra Fadavis, chief minister, and department of Law and Judiciary requesting them to appoint Rohini Salian SPP. Today Salian sent a letter to Sadiq Sheikh saying that she would fight the case as SPP.

Salian who was public prosecutor in Malegoan Bomb Blast Case took place in 2008 and she accused that NIA officer who wanted her to go soft against the Hindu radical group members who are accused in the case. Sadiq Sheikh said, “We feel that Salian is the public prosecutor of the great calibre and she would help us to give justice to my son. I am thankful she accepted.”
