Not all Ganesha idols are destined for glory

Bhayandar: With just a few days left for Ganesh Utsav to begin, artisans are busy in giving final touches to the idols of the loving Elephant-headed God, so as to ensure they are made available for devotees on the “Murti Sthapana” (idol installation) day.

While ornamentally decorated and beautifully painted Lord Ganesh idols are captivating devotees, not all are destined for glory. Like these idols (see picture) which were left disfigured after a fire engulfed a makeshift workshop-cum-store near the Golden Nest area in Bhayandar (east).

Not having a workshop of their own several idol makers and sellers have set up makeshift sheds on strategic locations of the twin-city.
