Mumbai: A middle-aged woman mysteriously survived after she leapt in front of a suburban train at Ghatkopar railway station and can be seen walking away silently before anybody could realise what had happened.
In the CCTV footage of the incident, which took place on June 23 morning, the woman can be seen jumping in front of the approaching train at Kalyan-end of the platform no.1, an RPF official said today.
The CCTV footage showed the woman falling in the middle of the tracks, when the train slowed down due to a red signal. In the video grab, onlookers can be seen peering into the gap to spot the woman while some informed the motorman about the incident.
The crowd waited till the train left the station as apparently there was no way to rescue the woman. However, what happened after that is shrouded in mystery.
The CCTV footage shows the crowd was surprised as they couldn’t spot the woman after the train had left, according to the official. Interestingly, footage of another CCTV shows the woman leaving the station from other end of the platform, he said.
It appears that the woman got up, climbed on to another platform and then went on to the footover bridge. “The woman is yet to be traced or identified. So, it would be premature to draw any conclusion (about how she survived), but prima facie, it seems to be a case of attempt to commit suicide,” the official said.
