Mumbai’s railway stations clean bowled

None of Mumbai’s railway stations has featured in the list of top 10 cleanest stations in the country which was declared by the Railway Ministry on Thursday after a third-party survey.There is, however, one silver lining for the city: Bandra station which was ranked 60th last year has jumped to the 15th spot. Pune which ranked 9th is the only station from the state in the top 10 list. Meanwhile, popular stations for outstation commuters, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus on the Central Railway and Mumbai Central on the Western Railway, ranked 44th and 27th, respectively.

The survey assessed the cleanliness of 407 railway stations in the country, out of which 75 are under A1 category — accounting for an annual passenger revenue of more than Rs 50 crore each. The CST and Mumbai Central are both A1 category stations. From Maharashtra, Pune was ranked 9th among the 20 cleanest stations under the A1 category, and Ahmadnagar ranked third in the A category stations.
