Mumbai: UP police quizzes accused in Diva rail sabotage case


Mumbai: The Uttar Pradesh (UP) police is in the city in order to question the arrested accused in Diva rail sabotage case. The UP police arrived in the city on Tuesday and is questioning the accused Maula Makandar in order to ascertain if he has any connection with Kanpur rail derailment case.

Makandar, was sent to judicial custody on Tuesday after the Thane Government Railway Police (GRP) interrogated him in the Diva rail sabotage case.

A three member team of UP police who arrived in the city are trying to ascertain whether Makandar has any connection with the mastermind of Kanpur rail derailment. At least 150 people were killed in the Kanpur rail derailment on November 20, 2016.

“The UP police are trying to ascertain if he is linked with Shamsul Huda, the alleged Dubai based mastermind who was detained in Nepal in February,” said a GRP source on request for anonymity.

The UP police have been trying to trace possible contacts of Huda in the rest of the country. Hence, they are questioning Makander in order to ascertain if he performed the act of sabotage on Huda’s orders.
