Mumbai: Suicide note of real estate investor found after 7 months, 1 held in Khar

Mumbai: Seven months after the suicide of a real estate investor, Khar police have arrested a 57-year-old man after the deceased’s son found suicide note while shifting his house from Khar to Bandra in December.

The police said the deceased Navroz Tejani (65) had hanged himself at his rented house in Khar (west) on July 24, 2017. Tejani had borrowed a sum of Rs 4 crore from the accused Shahnawaz Karmali to invest in a real estate project in Solapur.

“We had tried to search for the suicide note but did not find any. On December 24, we registered suicide abetment case after Tejani’s wife Naseeb reached police station with the suicide note in which he had held six people responsible for his death,” said PSI Madhukar Chaudhary, Khar police station.


Tejani run a kirana shop in Khar and simultaneously he would invest in real estate projects after borrowing money. The police said his Solapur project developed some issues and Karmali started pressurising him to return the money. Tejani ended his life due to being allegedly pressurised by Karmali, said police.
