Mumbai: Student dies in classroom at Mira Road

Bhayandar: A 17-year-old student of Singapore International School collapsed and died in his classroom on Tuesday morning.  The school is located behind Thakur Mall on the national highway in Kashimira. A class XII student, Shashank Rahul Agarwal (17), was in his classroom when he apparently felt giddy and collapsed at around 9 am on Tuesday.

According to the police, Shashank, a resident of Mumbai, was rushed to the nearby Bhakti Vedanta Hospital where he was declared bought dead on arrival. While a case of accidental death has been registered at the Kashimira police station, the body has been sent to JJ Hospital for a post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.

“We are awaiting autopsy reports and once we have that information further conclusions can be drawn,” said, Thane (rural) SP Dr Mahesh Patil.  Assistant Police Inspector Anant Surve is carrying out further investigations into the case. The school will remain shut on Wednesday as a mark of respect to Shashank.
