We are not prostitutes, we are not drug addicts. #Save us from our parents
Hon. Bombay HC, we are victims and we need justice #Save us from our parents” read the placards held by siblings that were on a protest walk from Bombay High Court to Marine Drive on Wednesday.

Shivangi Sule, 23, a law graduate, and her sister Samira Sule, 21, a third year architecture student, are the residents of Chincholi Bunder Road in Malad West. The sisters allege that their parents had been harassing them. On December 24, the girls were confined by their parents and were ‘rescued’ with the help of their friends, Dr Sunil Kulkarni and Malad Police. The girls also tried to file a complaint against their parents for domestic violence and wrongly confining them but the police refused to do so.

The girls’ father, a Chartered Accountant, and his wife claimed that their daughters Shivangi and Samira had fallen prey to Sunil Kulkarni, who claimed to be a doctor, psychiatrist and runs a group called Shifu Sanskriti. The parents claimed that their daughters’ behaviour changed after they got in touch with Kulkarni, who has multiple cases registered against him including a sexual assault. In a petition the parents said, ” Kulkarni attracts girls in the age group of 18-25 years and captures their mind to such an extent that they cannot possibly think beyond him and Shifu Sanskriti is a ‘sex and drugs racket’ that contacts young girls on Facebook and other social media.”

On April 18, the Bombay High Court slammed Malad Police for treating the parents’ complaints that their daughters had been ensnarled by ‘Shifu Sunkriti, very lightly. Following the hearing the Malad Police informed the High Court that it would register a First Information Report (FIR) against Shifu Sanskriti and Sunil Kulkarni for running a sex and drug racket.

On April 19, in an interview to a daily the girls were quoted saying that their parents are spreading false allegations against them that they are involved in a sex racket and are drug addicts.Talking about Shifu Sanskriti the girls said that it is nothing but a way to relax body and mind and get rid of negative energy. The girls also claimed that they are being followed by goons and are being called at police station at hours.
