Mumbai: Shikha’s brother slams cops for inaction in ‘suicide’ case

Mumbai: Days after the Mumbai police booked Khar-based cosmetic surgeon Dr Vijay Chandraprakash Sharma on October 15 on charges of abetment of suicide of the 40-year-old model-turned-actress Shikha Joshi, her younger brother Vishesh accused city police of not pursuing the case seriously.

“The clear cut case of a cold-blooded murder of my sister was initially treated as a suicide case. And after the intervention of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), they have booked cosmetic surgeon under abetment of suicide case after 17 months of my sister’s tragic death. But no arrest has been made so far,” said Vishesh, who further added that the present Investigating Officer (IO) of the case told him that still he is ‘studying’ the case.

The actress was fighting a case of molestation which she had lodged against Dr. Sharma, who had convinced her hard to withdraw the case else she would face dire consequences.

“Whenever I call the Mumbai police they say that the investigation is underway? How long this investigation will go?” he wondered.

Vishesh told The Free Press Journal that in next few days he will write a letter to the President of India, requesting him to transfer the case from Mumbai to Delhi. “There is some godfather who is shielding the main culprit of my sister’s murder. We are reeling under constant life threat. I think I will also be killed like my sister. So I would request the President as well as MHA to transfer the case from Mumbai to Delhi, which is my hometown. I am not at all safe in the city where my sister was killed,” said Vishesh.

Talking about the case being transferred from to Oshiwara from Versova police station, where the alleged suicidal death case of the model was registered, Vishesh said, “The senior officers reasoned that there is a dearth of competent investigating officers in Versova police station. Hence, the case has been transferred to Oshiwara for a quick probe.”

He further added that they would hold a demonstration at Delhi’s protesting venue Jantar Mantar where they would play the two-minute long alleged live suicide video which was made by Shikha’s roommate.
