Mumbai secret societies: This Sunday, explore the secret world of Freemasons

Mumbai: They are one of the most well-known secret societies in the world. Rich with symbols and rituals, they’ve become a source of legends and conspiracy theories in popular fiction. Are you interested in knowing about the world’s oldest and largest fraternity? Well, here’s your chance.

The Freemasons, who have existed for over 300 years,  will open their doors to the public in the city this Sunday. The District Grand Lodge of Bombay is organising its annual ‘Open House 2018’ on Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

People can register at http://youtoocanrun.com/races/?ee=1354 for theevent, or go without registration (better to do so). This is an opportunity to explore the 119-year-old heritage structure opposite Sterling cinema near CSMT and view the Masonic Temple on the second floor from within.

The open house is a chance for anyone and everyone to come, experience and discover masonry.

“The aim of the event is to increase the awareness about Freemasonry. It will be literally an open house for everyone, Freemasons as well as non-Masons, ladies, gentlemen, families, all are welcome. They will be taken on a tour of the Freemasons Hall Temple with Masonic exhibits and narratives. There will also be a Masonic talk/lecture on the hour, every hour, followed by a short Q&A session,” informed Sunil Pandit, the convenor of the event.
