Bhayandar: The battle lines are drawn for the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation polls and the war rooms of political parties are in combat mode to capture the civic throne. Brimming with young techies and election strategists, these hi-tech nerve centres (war rooms) have been set up by parties including the BJP and Shiv Sena to run campaigns on Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp.
With youth leader Purvesh Sarnaik himself at the helm of affairs, the Shiv Sena has also armed itself for a full scale digital assault to capture the MBMC as the social media is a now major weapon in the battle of ballots. Purvesh’s team comprising of social media experts, information technology professionals, statisticians and a skilled production unit has started manning its election war room.
“In a first, we are showcasing an accurate and in-depth information of various projects by using the VFX technology by which imagery is created outside the context of a live action shot,” said Purvesh who is personally monitoring contents and updates that are being forwarded to the Whatsapp groups off all candidates. With a team professionals including-creative artists, production techies, on field data management personnel and experienced think tanks, the BJP is also poll-ready at its centralized war room equipped with high-speed computers, lap-tops and data bank.
“Unlike our rivals, we are not involved in negative politics and only focusing on positive inputs about the developmental works carried out by our party and highlighting the main points of rallies held by our leaders and beaming the events live on Facebook,” says BJP’s social media chief Mayan Mehta. Besides traditional campaign in the form of rallies, banners and door-to-door visits, all the parties are using digital screens mounted on vans to drive to drive home their message of providing a result-oriented, clean governance with a vision.
