Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will not hold the Gudi Padwa rally at Shivaji Park this year, as its chief Raj Thackeray will be visiting the United States for his son’s treatment, a party insider said.
During the civic elections last month, Raj’s elder son Amit Thackeray was admitted to hospital for reportedly serious medical problems. At that time Thackeray had skipped election campaign rallies for a few weeks.
The MNS source said, “Though there will be no rally, party members will hold the Hindu New Year celebrations.”
The previous year MNS had conducted a huge Gudi Padwa gathering at Shivaji Park for the first time during which Thackeray addressed the audience.
