Mumbai: A day after media report suggests that the editor-in-chief of an English news channel Times Now, Arnab Goswami, will be provided with ‘Y-Category security cover’ to stave off threats from Pakistan-based terror outfits, the Maharashtra police said they are not aware of it. Sources in Times Now told this newspaper that Goswami has no such confirmation from the Ministry of Home Affairs. “There is no communication that we have had about it,” said a senior journalist in the Times Now.

“If somebody does not want to be quoted has given the information we don’t even know if that report is correct or not correct,” said the journalist. The home ministry, according to the report published in English daily, is likely to ask the Maharashtra police to handle Goswami’s security as he is based in Mumbai. To a query if the media report is correct, the Joint CP (L&O) of Mumbai police Deven Bharti said, “We don’t predict.” The Additional Chief Secretary of Maharashtra Home Department KP Bakshi similarly said he has ‘no such information’.
