Mumbai: Good news for Mumbai citizens. The Brhianmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will now ply buses on certain routes from December 1 in the night. This facility is started keeping in mind the commuters who miss the last local train who are then forced to wait at the station till early morning.
With only few exceptions on routes, by and large does not have buses plying till or beyond midnight. The routes that have all night round buses plying traditionally have been only two. Now the BEST will start new routes for buses from midnight from Swaminarayan Temple Dadar(east) to Gorai, Oshiwara, Mulund (west) and Koparkhairane.
The last local for Borivili leaves Dadar at 1:20am, now the BEST will start a new route 202 Ltd, at 1:40am from Dadar to Gorai. The other bus will operate from Dadar (east) for Oshiwara at 2:25am. Meanwhile special buses will ply on the four routes for limited numbers. On the central route, the last train leaves Dadar at 12:52 to Thane. From December the BEST will now ply buses from Dadar (east) to Mulund (west) at 2:30am. From 4:00am, 521 Ltd buses will ply to Koparkhairane. The buses to Borivili will go via Dadar, Mahim, complete Swami Vivekanand Marg (SV Road). The central route buses will go via Sion, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg (LB Marg) to Mulund and the final route, buses will go via Chembur and Vashi to Koparkhairane.
