Mumbai: Man stabs wife who is police constable


Mumbai: One 29-year-old husband was arrested on Tuesday for stabbing his estranged wife who is a police constable attached to Andheri police station.

The 26-year-old Sangita Dinkar Surve got married with the accused Pritam Kisan Ahirekar in March 2015. But their conjugal relations got estranged due to some personal reasons and the couple started staying separately few weeks after their marriage.

Mumbai police said there was a short standoff between the couple before Ahirekar repeatedly stabbed Surve with a knife he barged into her house in Shayadri Nagar, where she stays with other three Women Police Constables (WPCs) in a rented accommodation. The condition of Surve is said to be critical as she has been repeatedly stabbed by Ahirekar who has confessed to his crime, according to the police.

“Total four WPCs including Surve stay together in the rented accommodation. The rest of three WPCs are attached to Kandivali police station. One of them was doing her night shift and was not at home at the time of incidence, while another was busy in dialing 100 to report to police about the incident.
