Mumbai: Upset over having to stand for long hours at her work place, a 21 year old girl from Ghatkopar ended her life today in her house.

Police sources said Swati Gurav was staying with her family members and had been working in a retail store at a mall located in the central suburbs. She used to work from 10 am in the morning till 9 pm in the evening and most of this time she used to be only standing and this used to upset her a lot, the police said.

“In fact she had even confided to her family members she did not like this work and that she was looking for a change,” said an officer from Ghatkopar police station. However, she was getting frustrated since she was not getting another work despite making a lot of efforts, sources said.

Today morning, when her family members went to her room, they were shocked to find her hanging from a rod on the ceiling, the police said. She was brought to Rajawadi Hospital where she was declared dead before admission and a medical examination confirmed that she had died of hanging.

Police sources said that they do not suspect any foul play but will make detailed inquiries to find out the circumstances leading to her death.
