Mumbai: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev called on Raj Thackeray, president of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), at his Shivaji Park residence on Wednesday morning. Later, he went to meet Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Varsha, his official residence.
However, despite all speculation, an MNS official claimed that it was only a “courtesy visit” since Ramdev was on a flying visit to Mumbai. The two were together for about half an hour and reportedly discussed their interests, yoga and politics, in their meeting before emerging for photographs in front of the waiting media.
“It is great meeting Baba Ramdev. He is the biggest global evangelist of Hindu traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda that India has seen,” Thackeray said, who earlier received the guru with a warm hug at his doorstep.
Incidentally, in the past, the MNS chief has been critical of Ramdev, who is in the process of expanding Patanjali and his empire in Maharashtra. For this purpose, Ramdev was given huge land at a low price, which was criticised by Thackeray.
Meanwhile, in his tweets, Ramdev stated, ‘Met Shri Raj Thackeray, asked about his son’s well being and taught some pranayama to the family.’
Ramdev also met Fadnavis and his family. He tweeted, ‘Spent time with young and dynamic CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis and his family in Mumbai.’
“As Ramdev was in Mumbai, it was a courtesy visit to Fadnavis,” claimed an official from the Chief Minister Office (CMO).
