Mumbai: The Worli unit of Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has arrested a ‘most wanted’ drug dealer for possessing 25 gram heroin worth Rs 2.50 lakh on February 13.
The 49-year-old drug dealer Amina Hamja Shaikh alias Laali is a history sheeter and previously she was arrested by Ghatkopar unit in 2012 and Worli unit in 2015. She has been arrested from house in Mankhurd.
A senior ANC official said they were given a credible information that she has been selling drugs from her house. “Based on the tip off, we immediately sent our Worli Unit to her address and arrested her for possessing narcotic substance. Laali is a drug dealer and has been selling narcotic substances to many drug peddlers in the city since years. We have arrested her from Bhartiya Indira Ekta Co-ooperative Housing Society opposite to Shiva Temple, Lallubhai Compound, Mankhurd on Tuesday and recovered 25 gram heroin from her possession,” said a senior officer from ANC.
Laali’s name had recently popped up after the arrest of one female drug peddler Merry Tewar (30) in January. Tewar was arrested after a female cops chased her near Wadala Truck Terminus and recovered 272 grams of heroin in a black plastic bag that she was carrying. During investigation Tewar, resident of Sion Koliwada, told her interrogators that she had been regularly buying drugs from Laali. Laali has been booked under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
