Mumbai civic polls: I voted for myself but still got zero votes, says Independent candidate to SEC

Mumbai: In a unique case, an independent candidate Shrikant Shirsat who was a candidate in the recently held Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Election from Saki Naka (Ward no.164) constituency has challenged the results. He was shown with zero votes, having not received a single vote from his polling booth. He vouched for his family’s votes and moreover his own vote, which is not reflecting in the results and has accused tampering of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

While speaking to free Press Journal Shirsat said, “This is quite surprising as how the Electronic Voting Machine EVM is not showing a single vote were I and my family voted. There is a big scam happened in vote counting.”

He further said, “I also contested earlier state assembly election were I secured more than 1500votes. But now I got only 44 votes, which is shocking. We reached to everyone in my locality and it is impossible to get only 44 votes and more surprising is that from my polling booth I have not received a single vote. My neighbours, my family and my vote is not been shown it is ‘Zero’.”

Shirsat in his letter has complained to the state election commission and demanded a probe.

While in ward number 164 Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate Harish Krishna won with 7,262 vote margin.
