Mumbai civic polls: BJP to accept Shiv Sena’s Octroi demand

MUMBAI: When asked whether the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government will extract a pound of flesh from the Shiv Sena to agree to its demand of getting compensation from the Central government after Octroi is abolished, finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said, “BJP is very liberal and we are giving Sena everything without having them demand it. The Octroi will be abolished after imposition of GST and compensation amount which is around Rs 7000 crore will be deposited in the state exchequer and the state will distribute it to the BMC.”

The comment was in context of Fadnavis giving up claim of all constitutional posts in BMC including the Mayor, and chairman of standing, improvement and other committees.
