Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation(BMC) will soon start the road widening work of Dayaldas road from Shradhanand road junction connecting to Terminal 1B of Mumbai airport. The road widening project will provide major relief to motorists, especially commuters going towards Mumbai airport and at the same time will also reduce the traffic at Western Express Highway(WEH).
According to Assistant Commissioner Prashant Sapkale of Andheri east civic ward earlier the road development work was started by Mumbai Metropolitian Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in the year 2010. “Road development phase 1 has been completed from Milan Subway to Shradhanand junction road in 2013. Thereafter, the road development work has been handed over to BMC. Hence,the road will be widen to 120 feet now which will help to decongest the bottleneck going towards Mumbai airport.”
In addition he added from last three decades 50 per cent of the Dayaldas road adjoining to Western Express Highway was encroached by marble manufacturing units. Due to it the traffic movement on the road was been affected majorly. Also people going to airport usually suffered. Hence, on Friday total 24 marble structures manufacturing units which have been illegally extended been demolished.”
Meanwhile, BMC officials claim as major demolition drive was held by them the road development work will also start shortly.
