Mumbai: With three months remaining for the monsoons, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to speed up the roads repair work. There are total 463 project roads which require repair work and surfacing for all these roads will be taken up in summer on top priority, said a source from the roads department.
Vinod Chithore, the Chief Enginer of Roads Department said they expect to complete 80 per cent of this work prior to the monsoon and only 20 per cent will spill over. Apart from the road repairs work, BMC has informed they have completed 134 roads development work and 20 junctions work since last monsoons till now.
The second most important civic worry for citizens are the potholes, which the civic authority will take up on ward basis. The pothole filling work will also be taken up simultaneously in every ward. A senior civic officer from roads department who did not wish to be named stated, “All potholes filling work will commence soon. The assistant commissioners in 24 wards have been asked to take up a drive to identify potholes in their respective wards and initiate this work.
