Mumbai: Auto driver held for attacking a lady Home Guard in Dombivali

Mumbai: A lady Home Guard was attacked by a rickshaw driver at Dombivali over a parking dispute on Sunday morning.

Sunita Ramnarayan (33) was attacked by Ravi Nandlal Gupta (25) over a parking dispute. Ramnarayan had asked the autorickshaw driver not to park the autorickshaw in a no parking zone opposite Dombivali station near Ramnagar auto stand.  She asked Gupta to take the rickshaw on the side. Due to this an argument ensued between the two since Gupta did not pay any heed to her. The incident occurred at 11:30 a.m.

According to Police Inspector, R. Yadav, Ramnagar police station, “Ramnarayan asked the driver to take the rickshaw to Ramnagar police station under whose jurisdiction the area falls to register a complaint against him.While she was seated in the rickshaw, Gupta physically attacked her and pushed her out of the rickshaw in a nullah at Thakurli at Dombivali.”

Fearing for her life, Ramnarayan cried out for help. The locals gathered to help her and informed the police about it. Ramnarayan has sustained injuries on her hands. She has been admitted at Shakti nagar hospital at Dombivali (E). The registration number of the rickshaw is MH-05-CG-2138.

Gupta has been arrested for kidnapping or abducting in order to subject person to grievous hurt, slavery,etc. (Section 367), Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty(Section 332) and  intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace ( Section 504) of the Indian Penal Code.
