Mumbai: A unique Valentine’s Day celebrated at Bandra

Mumbai: A rather unique Valentine’s Day was celebrated in Bandra. Three men dressed as “corrupt corporation contractors” professed their love to three women dressed as BMC.

“Three males or contractors from Road, Solid Waste Department and De-silting departments proposed to three girls wearing letters B, M and C. This is one way of showing the romance between corrupt officials,” said Godfrey Pimenta, a social and civil rights activist who organised the event.

The programme was organised near Bandra-Worli Sea Link at the Love Mumbai installation where hundreds gathered to witness. “This programme was organised to spread masa awareness amongst the corrupt and build public support to save national wealth,” Pimenta added. Onlookers said they were entertained with the event but need more such awareness drives.

“A sarcastic take on issues like this puts much more pressure than severe ranting which authorities are used to. And by such initiatives, people participation will also increase. The government must realise that public must not be taken for granted,” said Alkesh Bhojani, a Bandra resident.
