Mumbai: A speeding 38-year-old female driver allegedly rammed into a biker, Pawan Tendulkar, late on Saturday, and sent him hurtling in the air before he landed with a thud 150 metres away. In a state of panic, she fled from the accident spot and was traced with the help of CCTV footage; she was finally nabbed from her residence.
The police have registered a case of rash driving against the female accused and booked her under relevant sections of the IPC and the Motor Vehicles Act. According to police sources, the incident took place late on Saturday night on the road leading from Aksa to Marve beach near the INS Hamla post in Malad. The car, a Maruti Suzuki Xcent (MH-47-K-8923), driven by the female accused whose name has been withheld on request, came in speeding from Marve Road and ploughed into Tendulkar’s motorcycle.
Locals rushed him to Sanjeevani Hospital where he is recuperating. He has sustained injuries on the right hand and fractured his right leg; there are also minor head injuries on the back. The doctors said he will take at least a fortnight to be able to walk with the aid of a walker. The medical reports say that the driver was not driving under influence of drink; so, she was let out on bail.
