Mumbai: 17-year-old girl dies in hit-and-run near Marine Drive

On Monday, a 17-year-old girl died after she was knocked down by a car on Marine Drive. A 17-year-old college student was knocked down while crossing road.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the victim has been identified as Saylee Raju Rajput. She is a resident of Kandivali. Saylee was a first-year commerce student at Shri MD Shah Mahila College of Arts and Commerce in Malad.

The accident took place around 4 pm when she and her friends were crossing the road near Meghdoot bridge near Marine Drive, as she was knocked down by a car. The motorist did not stop to offer any help or assistance. Later, after the accident, she was rushed to Nair Hospital, where she was declared dead.


The police are now reviewing CCTV footage near the accident spot to identify the vehicle and get a look at its registration number. An officer told the leading daily, “The girl and her friends were heading towards Churchgate station when the accident occurred. Before her friends or onlookers could note down the car’s number, the driver fled. We have registered a case of death due to negligence and are checking the camera footage to identify the driver.”
