The floodgates of the happening Global Citizen Festival has already been shut at 4 PM. Two hours since the concert started we saw mind blowing performances from talented Bollywood stars like Sonakshi Sinha, Arijit Singh, Monali Thakur and the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
Amina J. Mohammed, Minister of Environment of Nigeria, too joined the stage and said that Nigeria is inspired by India and wishes to follow India in this initiative. She further added that they will work to end open defecation in their country by 2025.
Next to join the rock bandwagon was Rock On 2 star Shraddha Kapoor who impressed the audience with her amazing track from Rock On 2 ‘Tere Mere Dil’. The actress had earlier vowed the audience with her voice in songs from movies like ‘Ek Villian’ and ‘Baaghi’.
Also seen at the concert were dignitaries from Global Interfaith Wash Alliance.
The new host to join the stage was Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya actress Alia Bhatt. After the actress introduced American pop singer Demi Lovato on the stage the excitement went through the roof. The pop singer was on stage vowing the audience for a complete 20 minutes.
Bollywood singer Monali Thakur, after her performance interacted with the media said that she is very happy that the country has come together for a noble cause. She also revealed that Coldplay’s song was the only caller tune she ever had on her phone and she is excited to them today.
Bollywood producer Karan Johar urged people to become part of the initiative and come together to end poverty. The event also saw B-towners like Ritiesh Deshmukh and Malaika Arora Khan talking about gender equality.
