Mumbai: Everything you need to know about Metro 2B and Metro 4

The Metro 2B and 4 will finally have some progress. These projects have been in government’s pipeline for quite sometime now. Metro 2B and Metro 4 will connect most parts suburban’s Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will himself lay the foundation stone for Metro 2B and 4, on 10 December.

Due to the up-coming BMC elections government pushed this project on fast track. These projects are announced weeks before code of conduct for the Mumbai civic elections.

The Metro 2-B corridor which is budgeted at whooping Rs 10,986 crore will be from DN Nagar and Mankhurd it will have 22 stations and cover 23.5 km. Metro 4 corridor which is between Wadala and Kasarvadavli in Thane, which is also the longest Metro corridor in Mumbai. Metro 4 will have 32 stations and cover 32 km, this corridor is worth Rs 14,549 crore.

The cabinet had approved Rs 61,289 crore for five Metro corridors, which will add to 124-km Metro network in Mumbai and Thane. These corridors are estimated to be completed by 2021.

The Maharashtra State Government wanted to have Shivaji memorial to held simultaneously, but due to delay in bidding process the state government postponed the Shivaji memorial bhoomi pujan.

The opening ceremony of the gallery of cartoons drawn by legendary cartoonist RK Laxman, in JJ School of Arts campus was also be going on the same of Metro 2b and 4 stone foundation, but that too got postponed. The higher and technical departments of the state government said the gallery will not be ready before March 2017.

The Stations Metro 2B will cover (DN Nagar- Bandra- Mankhurd),

DN Nagar, ESIC Nagar, Prem Nagar, Indira Nagar, Nanavati Hospital, Khira Nagar, Saraswat Nagar, National College, Bandra, MMRDA, Income Office, ILFS, MTNL Metro, SG Barve Marg, Kurla Terminal, Kurla-E, EEH, Chembur, Diamond Garden, Shivaji Chowk, BSNL Metro, Mankhurd, Mandala (Depot).

The stations Metro 4 will cover (Wadala- Ghatkopar- Thane- Kasarvadavli),

Wadala Depot, Bhakti Park Metro, Anik Nagar Bus Depot, Suman Nagar, Siddhart Colony, Amar Mahal Junction, Garodia Nagar, Pant Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Shreyas Cinema, Godrej Company, Vikhroli Metro, Surya Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Naval Housing, Bhandup Mahapalika, Bhandup Metro, Shangrila, Sonapur, Mulund Fire Station, Mulund Naka, Teen Haath Naka(Thane), RTO Thane, Mahapalika Marg, Cadbury Junction, Majiwada, Kapurbawdi, Manpada, Tikuji-ni-wadi, Dongri Pada, Vijay Garden, Kasarvadavali with car depot at Owale.
