Mumbai : Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta was expected to submit his report on the first point of order which was raised by Yashwant Jadhav, leader of the house during the second general body meeting which was held on Saturday. But as the civic chief was not present for the general body meeting, it was adjourned and it is called on Monday.
During the second general body meeting BMC failed to give the explanation about the financial budget of 2016-17 of Rs 61, 000 crore.
Yashwant Jadhav, leader of ruling party had raised point of order, stating that the corporation had utilised only 25 per cent of the funds from the financial budget of 2016-17, to which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress and other parties also supported.
BMC has consistently failed to spend even half of its budgetary provisions for five years even as citizens of the country’s financial capital suffered due to poor infrastructure, mediocre healthcare and ineffective planning.
Manoj Kotak, BJP said, “The administration should circulate the detail copy of the financial budget of 2016-17 to all the corporators for their knowledge and in next general body meeting civic chief should be present for giving all the details.”
Rais Shaikh, Samajwadi Party group leader said, “We all should get the details about how much money has been utilised by the administration for the up-gradation of the city’s infrastructures and amenities.”
