Mumbai : Congress’ Vijay Vadettiwar, the deputy leader of opposition, in a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has claimed tenants of Andheri Anna Nagar SRA scheme were threatened by bouncers of a company aspiring to get redevelopment work.
Vadettiwar said the CM has set a target 2019 for affordable housing. “Though the target of Fadnavis seems good, some of the builders close to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are creating hurdles in completion of ongoing projects under Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA),” claimed the Congress legislator from Brahmapuri in Chandrapur district.
According to Vadettiwar, tenants from Anna Nagar Cooperative housing Society (CHS) and Kasam nagar CHS in Andheri approached him during winter session of the state assembly. “These are the tenants from the SRA scheme who had selected M/s Chamankar Enterprises as developer to complete the SRA scheme in 1999. L & T was the partner with Chamankar,” said Vadettiwar. He added, “Even after lapses of 20 years, Chamankar Enterprises failed to complete the project and hence SRA cancelled their work order and allowed tenant society to select new developer. Recently, the developer, who is close to ruling BJP, trying to grab the work threatened committee members of housing society.
Meanwhile, Vadettiwar and Ayyau Chinnaswami Kaunder and Rajendran Renu Udiayar have filed a complaint with the Mumbai police commissioner, Amboli police station and CM.
