Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Monday reserved its orders over the writ petition filed by socialite Poonam Shroff seeking transfer of the investigations initiated against her in a murder attempt case by the Khar police. Shroff had alleged that the Khar police launched probe against her in an illegal manner. A division bench presided over by Justice Ranjit More and Justice Shalini Phansalkar-Joshireserved its orders over Shroff’s petition.

Poonam, who was booked in April for allegedly poisoning her estranged husband Jaidev Shroff, had approached the bench in December 2016. She had sought directions to the Metropolitan Magistrate court for not taking cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the Khar Police against her. She contended that the Khar police have ‘illegally’ investigated the complaint filed against her by Jaidev.

Apprehending that the officers in the Khar police were ‘hand-in-gloves’ with Jaidev, Poonam had written a letter to the then Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) (Home), KP Bakshi seeking transfer of the probe to Crime Branch.
