Body of cop who slipped into Gaimukh creek found


Mumbai : The body of a constable attached to the Kasarwadavli police station was recovered on Saturday from Gaimukh creek in Thane. According to Parag Manere, Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime), “The body of Constable Bharat Rawate has been recovered on Saturday at 3:30p.m.”

The police said that the body has been sent for post-mortem at Thane civil hospital. Rawate (40) allegedly drowned in Thane’s Gaikmukh creek on Friday morning.

 “The deceased had gone for a walk when the incident occured. We suspect that he slipped and later drowned in the creek. We are trying to find out from his family and friends what exactly happened to him. It is not a case of suicide. We are investigating as to why he had visited the spot,” the Kolsewadi police said.
