BMC elections: Congress complains to SEC against Aamir, BJP

FOLLOW US:

Mumbai: The General Secretary of Mumbai Pradesh Congress Committee, Sachin Sawant, on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the State Election Commission seeking registration of offence for the violation of code conduct and requested to take a stern action against the Bollywood star Aamir Khan, Bhartiya Janta Party and Mumbai First, a Non government organisation (NGO). The advertisement was issued by an NGO, Mumbai First, urging the city to vote and talked about potholes and garbage while saying – “vote kar ya crib kar (you can either vote or crib).”

Sawant said, “Despite the commission’s  guidelines banning advertisements in the print and electronic media after the campaign ended 48 hours before voting, the organisation ‘Mumbai First’ issued the advertisement in prominent newspapers on the voting day itself to help the BJP.”
