Archdiocese of Bombay has sent a letter to Press Council of India (PCI) stating that the article that appeared in a tabloid about St. Michael Church Mahim, is biased. This development was confirmed by Archdiocese of Bombay.
After the local newspaper reported about the CCTV camera installed in Women’s toilet of Mahim Church surfaced, there were talks about filing a defamation suit. There is still no clarity on what the stand of the church is on this but Archdiocese of Bombay has approached the Press Council of India on this article. “We have send a letter to PCI on the same,” sources added. “We have expressed our grievance in the letter.”
The church was seen taking signatures of the churchgoers to file a defamation. The parish priest was unavailable for comment. However, a source at the Archdiocese of Bombay believes that there is bad blood now due to this CCTV camera article. When quizzed about filing a suit, source said, “We understand the sentiments. Just because a group responded in one particular way, does not mean we will take a similar route.”
Post the report, the church had got the police to inspect the camera. During the inspection, it is heard that Mahim police station did not find any snoopy behaviour.
