Mumbai : After a warning of facing protest and demand that books with wrong birth date of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar be called back, the publishers of Class VI book called Marathi Bhasha Parichay have tendered an apology to city Congress General Secretary Vilas Rupawate.
Rupawate had alleged that the mistake of publishing April 4, 1891 instead of April 14, 1891 on page 7 in an essay on Ambedkar was not a technical error but a purposeful act. He had claimed that 50,000 of these books had been distributed in BMC schools.
While an office-bearer of the publishing group had apologised on a phone call, he had refused to accept the apology. In an apology letter dated October 27, 2016, the secretary of the publishing group wrote that publishing ‘4 April’ as the birth date was a mistake and that “we apologise whole-heartedly for the mistake”.
