Mumbai: The body of a four-year-old girl, who went missing near Mankhurd railway station, was found dumped in bushes near Mankhurd in eastern suburbs today, police said.
Police suspect the girl, who went missing near Mankhurd railway station last night, was raped and murdered. Police Control Room got a call at about 9 AM today about a small girl’s body being spotted by locals in bushes behind RBT Colony near Mankhurd, an official said, adding that injuries were found on private parts of the girl.
The girl got separated from her mother near the railway station due to Sunday rush at around 10:30 PM. Her family lodged a missing person complaint at Mankhurd police station at around 1:30 AM after they could not find her, police said.
The body was sent to civic-run Rajawadi Hospital in suburban Ghatkopar for post-mortem.
Police are analysing CCTV footage of the area. A case was registered under relevant sections of IPC for kidnapping and murder and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the unknown persons.
