Ujjain: Mangalnath Mandir manager arrested over financial irregularities


Ujjain: In a dramatic development Chimanganj Mandi police station staff on Thursday evening arrested Mangalnath Mandir manager Trilok Vijay Saxena under Section 151 of the CrPC for indulging in abusive dialogue with government officers.

As per available details, the office of Mangalnath Mandir’s manager was sealed on Wednesday on the behest of collector Manish Singh who got information that extra money was being charged from the devotees in the name of ‘bhaat pujan’. On Thursday afternoon, the collector sent naib tehsildar Moolchand Junwal and Aalok Chaurey to count the money placed at the manager’s office. Manager Saxena, who was retired from the government service as UDC, was also present.

During the counting of votes, the naib tehsildars found Rs 1.32 lakh cash in Saxena’s pocket and when they grilled him, he tried to mislead them and finally accepted that the money was of the temple and he had pocketed it. During it, Saxena also reportedly passed abusive comments. In the meantime, the collector also reached there at about 5.30 pm and rebuked him. Later, the police were called in and Saxena was arrested and kept in the lockup of the police station. Sources informed that several complaints of financial irregularities were made against Saxena earlier.
